BP Sorrento ની દરેક શિફ્ટ
કંઇક ચોક્ક્સ કહી જાય છે....
BP Sorrento માં કામ કરતાં કરતાં એક કરતાં વધારે વર્ષ વીતી
ચુક્યું છે અને અનુભવે ઘણું ઘણું શીખવ્યું છે. આ અનુભવે એક બાબતમાં મારા મનને
ચોક્ક્સ દિશામાં વિચારતો કરી મુક્યો છે એ પણ પાક્કું જ છે અને એ વાત એટલે જુદી
જુદી શિફ્ટની કહાની ! હા, મારે દરેક શિફ્ટ બાબતે કંઇક કહેવું હોય તો ચોક્ક્સ કહીશ
કે BP Sorrento માં દરેક શિફ્ટની એક અલગ
જ દાસ્તાન છે. જેમ કે, દિવસની સૌથી પહેલી શરૂ થતી શિફ્ટની વાત કરીએ તો ચોક્ક્સ
કહેવાનું મન થાય કે પેપર વર્ક પતાવીને – સ્ટોર કલીન કરીને, કુલરૂમ ફિલ કરીને અને થોડા રડ્યા ખડ્યા નિશાચર કસ્ટમરોને સર્વ કરીએ
ત્યાં તો ક્યાં અડધી શિફ્ટ પતી જાય એનો ખ્યાલ પણ ન આવે. બાકી રહેલા સ્ટોરને ફીલ
કરતાં અને હોટ ફ્રીજરને ફૂલ ભરી દઇએ ત્યારે મનમાં સહેજે ઉડુપી રાજા બની રહેતા હોય
તેવી ફિલ થઇ આવે તો બીજા છેડે જાણે એમ થાય કે હમણા જાન આવવાની છે અને તૈયારીમાં
કંઇ બાકી તો નથી ને ! અને જાણે ઘડિયાળ 4:30
ના ટકોરા પાડે અને રણમેદાને જનારા યોદ્ધાઓ પોતાના વ્હિકલરૂપી રથ પર સવાર થઇ આવી
ચડતા હોય ત્યારે જાણે યુદ્ધઘોષનો શંખનાદ થઇ ચુક્યો હોય એવું ચોક્ક્સ લાગી ઉઠે. આ
યોદ્ધારૂપી ટ્રેડીઓ થોડું ઘણું જરૂરી
ફ્યુલ ભરે અને કોઇક ફૂડ કે સેંડવિચ સાથે કોફિ લઇને જતાં હોય ત્યારે સહેજે થઇ ઉઠે
કે અરે...એની ચાલ અને કોન્ફિડન્સ તો એમ જ કહે છે કે આજના યુદ્ધમાં એનો વિજય
નિશ્ચિત જ છે ! આવા અનેક ટ્રેડી સવારને એક્દમ એકટિવ બનાવી દેતા હોય એવું લાગી ઉઠે
અને આપણું પોતાનું મન પણ જાણે થાક શબ્દ ભુલીને આ યોદ્ધાઓને સર્વ કરવામાં ક્યાં
લાગી પડતું હોય છે એનો સહેજે ખ્યાલ રહેતો નથી અને જાણે સમય નામનો અવકાશ આ સમયે ખરી
પડતો હોય એવું લાગી ઉઠતું હોય છે. આ શિફટનો છેલ્લો કલાક એટલે ક્યાંક ઇમ્પ્રુવમેન્ટ
માટે તો ક્યાંક કંઇક નવું શીખી જવા માટે ખુબ જ મહત્વનો હોય છે કારણ કે મેનેજરનો
સાથ મળી ઉઠે છે.
BP Sorrento માં દિવસની બીજી શિફટને હું સૌથી નસીબવાળી અને
સૌથી પંકાયેલા હોશિયાર CSR ની શિફ્ટ ગણું છું કારણ કે આ શિફ્ટમાં કામ કરનાર CSRને આખી શિફ્ટ દરમ્યાન મેનેજર અને ASM બન્નેનું બેક અપ મળવાનું ! ગમે તેવી મોટી ભુલ
થાય તો પણ ત્વરિત સોલ્યુસન વાળી શિફ્ટ એટલે 6 થી 12 ની શિફ્ટ ! જે ભુલ થઇ એ ત્યારે
જ સમજી લેવાની અને ભુલ સુધારી લેવાની – વાહ, આવી મજા ઇવનિંગ અને નાઇટ શિફ્ટ વાળાને
ક્યાંથી ??? આ શિફ્ટમાં ધીરે ધીરે પેલા યોદ્ધારૂપી ટ્રેડીઓની જગ્યા ઓફિસ વર્કસ લઇ
રહ્યા હોય છે અને સમય જાણે સ્થિર થઇ જતો હોય એવું લાગી ઉઠે ! ક્યાંક કોઇક ગ્રુપ
નિશ્ચિત સમયે ગુફતગુ કરવા કોફી પીવાના બહાને આવી ચડતું હોય અને જાણે સ્ટોર કોફી
શૉપ બની ઉઠતો હોય એવી ચોક્ક્સ ફિલિંગ થઇ ઉઠે ! અને એમાં પણ કંઇ કેટલાય એવા આવી ચડે
કે એક કોફીનો શીપ લઇને કહેતાં જાય Wow Nice
Coffee ! ત્યારે CSR સહેજેય
ગર્વાન્વિત થઇ ઉઠતો હોય છે અને જાણે એનો દિવસ સુધરી જતો હોય એવી ફિલિંગ આવી ઉઠતી
હોય છે. આવા નસીબ બીજી શિફ્ટ વાળાને ક્યાંથી ??? વિચાર તો કરો એક અંકલ અને આંટી
રોજ સવારે કોફી પીવા છેક નોરાંડાથી આવે છે. આવા તો અનેક કોફીના ચાહકો આ શિફ્ટમાં
મળી આવે જે BP Sorrento ને ચાર ચાંદ લગાવી આપે છે.
BP Sorrento ની આફટરનુન શિફ્ટ એટલે ચોક્ક્સ કહી શકાય કે
સૌથી વધારે એક્ટીવ રહેવાની શિફ્ટ ! આ શિફ્ટમાં જ કદાચ સૌથી વધારે કસ્ટમર આવતાં હોય
એવું કહી શકાય અને એમાંય તે મંગળવારે તો ચોક્ક્સ જ ! આ એ શિફ્ટ છે જેમાં સ્કૂલના
છોકરા પણ આવે અને બુઢ્ઢા પણ આવે ! ટ્રેડીની વાન પણ આવે અને મોટી બોટ પણ આવે !
પોતાના દિકરા – દિકરીને સ્કૂલેથી લઇને ઘરે જતાં પોતાના વ્હિકલની ફ્યુલ ટેંક ફુલ
કરાવવા અને પોતના વ્હાલાઓને આઇસ્ક્રીમ લઇ આપવાવાળા પણ આવે ! સમજો ને આ શિફ્ટમાં
બધા જ આવે અને સૌથી વધુ બધું જ વહેંચાય ! ક્યાંક કેટલાક સ્કૂલના છોકરાવ તો કેટલાક
કાયમી કસ્ટમર સાથે એવો લાગણીનો સંબંધ બની જતો હોય છે કે CSR ની ગેરહાજરીની નોંધ તેઓ ચોક્ક્સ લેતા હોય છે.
આ બધાની વચ્ચે ચોક્ક્સ કહેવાનું મન થાય કે ગમે તે CSR માટે ફેવરીટ કાર
કઇ તો જવાબ એક જ મળે કે પ્રાડો, લેન્ડ ક્રુઝર અને પેટ્રોલ કારણ કે એનો માલિક
જ્યારે પેમેન્ટ કરવા આવે તો જો એમની પાસે ફ્યુલ કાર્ડ નથી તો 99% 8 સેંટ પાક્કા !
BP Sorrento ની સાંજની શિફ્ટ એટલે થોડા ઘણાં કસ્ટમરને સર્વ
કરવાના અને સ્ટોરને ફિલઅપ કરતાં રહેવાનું ! બાકી ઇવનિંગ અને નાઇટ શિફ્ટ વાળાના
નસીબમાં પંપ પર આવીને ઉભી રહેતી પ્રાડો, પેટ્રોલ કે મોટી બોટ ક્યાંથી કે જે વગર
કહ્યે આવીને 8 સેંટ્સનો લાભ આપી જાય અને મજા કરાવી જાય ! ક્યાંક મેક્ષી મોકા વિથ
વન સુગર વાળો એ કસ્ટમર કે વન લાર્ઝ અને વન રેગ્યુલર કેપેચિનો વિથ મોર ફ્રોથ વાળી
લિંડા જેવા 50% રેગ્યુલર કસ્ટમરના વૉકિંગથી જ આ શિફ્ટ ઉભરાતી હોય, છતાં, પોતાની
શિફ્ટને મજાથી એન્જોય કરતાં આવડવું એ જ ખરી મજા અને આવડત ! એ જ સમયે મને ખાસ શિખવી આપ્યું ! બાકી કરવું જ હોય તો ગણી ન
શકાય એટલા કામ હોય છે, સ્ટોરને પોતાનો
સમજીને કરતાં રહો અને શિફ્ટને એન્જોય કરો !
જે હોય તે આ બધી
શિફ્ટનું સરવૈયું માંડીએ ત્યારે ચોક્ક્સ કહેવાનું મન થાય કે BP Sorrento ની દરેક શિફ્ટનો
સરવાળો એટલે એક મજાનું ટીમ વર્ક ! અને આમાં,
જો ક્યાંક કોઇક કડી ખુટે તો આખું બધું જ વિખરાઇ જતું હોય એવું સૌએ કયાંકને
ક્યાંક અનુભવ્યું છે. આપણે બધા જ એકબીજાના આધાર અને સહારા છીએ એ ક્યાંક સ્વિકારવું
રહ્યું. પણ બીજા છેડે બારીકાઇથી આ ટીમવર્કને જોવામાં આવે તો ચોક્ક્સ સમજાય કે આ
જીત ક્યાંક પર્ફેક્ટ મેનેજમેન્ટની છે. અને છેલ્લી વાત કે આ બધાની વચ્ચે જે
બ્રહ્મજ્ઞાન અનુભવના આધારે લાધ્યું એ એ છે કે આજે પણ મનિષભાઇ એ દિવસની રાહ જોતા
હોય છે કે કોઇક ભાયડો CSR એવો મળે કે
આવીને કહે કે પુછો મનિષભાઇ કંઇપણ પુછો હું તૈયાર જ છું કોઇપણ ઇન્સિંડન્ટ કે કોઇપણ
બાબતનો હું પરફેક્ટ જવાબ આપી જ દઇશ..... જે કદાચ અઘરૂ છે પણ અશક્ય નથી... !!!! છે,
અત્યારે આપણામાંથી કોઇકની હિંમત .... ! થઇ જાય .... શાસ્ત્રાર્થ... !

Every Single Shift @ BP Sorrento is always unique
It’s been more than a year since I’ve been working at BP Sorrento and my experience throughout,
has taught me a lot. This experience obviously has made me start thinking about something, and
that thing is story of each and every shift. If I want to tell something about shift, then I would like to
say every shift has its own uniqueness.
For instance If we talk about the first shift of the day to be sure, we can’t even fathom where half of
the shift goes by settling the paper work, cleaning the store, filling the cool room and serving a few
night owl customers. After filling the remaining store and topping up the hot freezer with food I feel
like the Udupi king, while on the other hand it seems as if the bride and groom are going to come
soon, and making sure that any work is not incomplete. When the clock strikes 4:30 at dawn, it feels
as if the customers are the warriors at a battlefield who are riding on their vehicles as if they were
war chariots striking on the call of the war cry. These warrior like tradies, fill up a bit necessary fuel
and then buy some coffee or sandwich and then when you look at their confident walk it tells you
that they are definitely going to win today’s war. Many of these tradies make our morning really
active and lively, and while serving these tradies our tiredness just disappears into thin air and as we
serve them we become so indulged in work, that we don’t even seem to notice that time quickly
pours down from the sky. The last hour of this shift, teaches very valuable lessons and is very
important because the manager is with us.
I consider the second shift of the day in BP Sorrento to be the luckiest shift with the smartest CSR,
because the CSR working this shift gets the back up of both the manager and the ASM throughout
the shift! Even if there is a big mistake, a shift with a quick solution means a shift of 6 to 12! If any
mistake occurs, it is being understood and solved at the very moment. How could this kind of luck
have morning and evening shift CSR?? In this shift, office works are gradually taking the place of
tradies and it seems as if the time has been paused. In this shift some group comes to chat on the
pretext of drinking coffee, one can feel an atmosphere of the store becoming a coffee shop! And
some of the customers compliment the coffee as Wow! Such a splendid coffee as soon as they have
a sip of the coffee. And at the instant moment the CSR feels delighted as if it had made his day. How
could this kind of luck have in other shifts?? Just imagine, a couple travels from Noranda to BP
Sorrento just to get a coffee… what a win. Not only one, but there are a numerous coffee lovers who
make our day!
BP Sorrento’s afternoon shift is undoubtedly the most active shift; during this shift we receive the
most number of customers, and definitely on Tuesdays. This is the time of the day when people of
all ages and wealth come at the store, whether it is a school child or a senior citizen, and whether
they are tradie or an ambitious boat driver. Even people come with their children after school to get
them some ice-cream or get their loved ones some quick meal while filling their fuel. During this
shift we can say, that we get the most customer and we sell them the most. Surprisingly sometimes
some school children and some regular customers seem to notice the absence of the CSR that
regularly works there. In between all these, if you randomly ask any CSR that what are their
favourite cars?, there would be only one reply that you will hear and that is Prado, Patrol and Land
cruiser, because if the owners of these cars don’t have a fuel card, then in 99% of cases they will
definitely use the 8 cents offer.
BP Sorrento's evening shift means serving quite a few customers and keeping the store full! How can
CSR evenings and nights be this lucky to get 8c a litter with Prado, Land cruisers, patrol and big
boats? Somewhere, this shift is made by the walking of 50% regular customers like a person who
needs Maxi mocha with one sugar or Linda with Cappuccino with more froth on daily basis.. In spite
of all these, time and experience have taught me how to enjoy my work happily. There are many
tasks that can be completed if you are willing to work.
Throughout all these shifts, the conclusion comes to only one answer which comes down to the
teamwork by all the CSR’s, and if there is any disturbance in this hierarchy of shift, then all the work
would be affected badly. We all are interdependent on each other and that is a fact, and if you
observe and investigate the success of teamwork carefully, then you will get to know that perfect
management is the real reason behind this victory. The last thing I would like to say is, in between all
this through my wise knowledge and experience about our manager Manishbhai, that he is waiting
for the day when a courageous and confident CSR comes and tells him these words “Manishbhai you
can ask me any incident or any quarries related to our shifts at BP, and I am ready to give the perfect
answer”, It’s hard but not impossible…is anyone out of us confident enough to do it right now?
